In today’s G6/7 Entrepreneurship class, we included G5 and welcomed guest speaker Mr. Fujiwara, who gave a talk on FX and derivatives. During the lecture, he explained that the calculation of a call option price uses the Monte Carlo method, similar to how π is estimated. Following this, students participated in a dice-rolling activity to experience the concept firsthand.
Although the topic was challenging, some students fully engaged their minds, asking insightful questions and making great efforts to understand. At the same time, a few students seemed momentarily stuck due to the difficulty.
At that point, encouragement was given:
“This is the turning point! Even if you don’t understand it now, trying to understand helps your brain form new synapses and connections, making it stronger. If you give up just because it seems hard, your brain’s development stops right there.”
Mr. Fujiwara also shared important messages:
“Those who can grow their wealth in stocks are the ones who understand the mechanisms and think for themselves. Relying entirely on others will not generate profits.”
“Making the right decisions requires information, and truly valuable information is often not accessible to the general public.”
Through this, students learned the importance of understanding the underlying mechanisms and realized that investing in stocks without sufficient information can be akin to gambling. The session also revisited a core principle of our Entrepreneurship class: using one’s own abilities to do work that helps others, receiving gratitude, and earning money through that contribution.
Teachers and staff were also inspired alongside the students, experiencing a refreshing and stimulating session. Moving forward, we will continue to invite guest speakers to provide students with valuable learning opportunities directly from real-world professionals.
