-Official Launch of the IB Diploma Program and Plans to Establish a High School-
Learning Tree International School (LTIS) in Koto-ku, Tokyo, is pleased to announce that it has officially been recognized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) as a candidate school for the IB Diploma Program (DP).
Following this recognition, LTIS has begun full-scale preparations to introduce the IB Diploma Program and to establish its high school division.
■Fostering High School Education Focused on Each Student’s Exciting Learning Journey
Since its founding, Learning Tree has prioritized cultivating students’ curiosity and autonomy.
The introduction of the IB Diploma Program further deepens this philosophy.
Our goal is not simply to pursue IB scores, but to provide an educational environment where students can pursue learning rooted in their own interests and strengths.
Beyond expanding options for higher education and careers, LTIS aims to serve as a “safe base” where students can rest, reflect, and prepare for the next steps in their life journey.
■Principal’s Comment
“Being recognized as an IB candidate school is a significant step forward for us.
We will continue to deepen our knowledge while preparing the curriculum, recruiting IB-qualified teachers, and improving our facilities.
We aim to support each student’s inquiry so they can live their lives with excitement and develop the skills to thrive in the world.”
(Fumiko Masaki, Ph.D., Principal, Learning Tree International School)
After IB authorization, LTIS plans to establish a high school division for current middle school students entering high school. By 2030, we aim to offer a comprehensive program for children aged 2 through Grade 12, providing custom-made guidance tailored to each student’s individual learning and career path.
